Advantages to Nuclear Energy By Rachel

Hello, my fellow Americans. Lately we have been experiencing problems in creating energy. I am here to tell you all that there is should be no more fear, for my colleagues and I have found a solution. That is Nuclear Energy. Nuclear Energy is a rather efficient way of producing electricity while being one of the least expensive. For one thing, uranium, the fuel used on nuclear power plants, is all over the world. There is much more uranium than there is coal and oil. The amount of uranium is 100 times that of silver on this planet. So while it isn't a renewable energy source, it will last a lot longer than coal and oil. It also produces much more energy. external image Nuclear%2BPower%2BYes%2BPlease.png

A ton of uranium will produce more energy than millions of tons of oil. And a pound of uranium will produce 16,000 times more electricity than a pound of coal. The United States uses a special type of uranium, called U-235, and very little of that uranium is used to make electricity. Plus, the water used in the steam to turn the turbine (see Nuclear-knowhow page) is cooled after it is used so it becomes water again. Then the workers can heat it again and again so the plant can continue to use the same water. It also doesn't hurt the environment. Other sources of energy contribute to Global Warming and and Greenhouse Gas emissions, but nuclear energy does not. A nuclear power plant also does not produce any carbon dioxide as well. If this is properly contained, it won't hurt the environment and it produces more electricity on a lower amount of fuel. Nuclear Energy is exactly what we need at this time of crisis.
