Uses of Biomass
Biomass has many uses. Heat from biomass can be used for heating your house and cooking. 70% of all biomass in the world is used in the residential sector, while 14% is used in industry and 11% is transformed into electricity, heat, or another energy carrier such as liquid fuel or biogas.Biomass can be converted to and used as electricity. This is done by using the heat and energy from biomass to boil water, and then the energy in the steam is used to turn turbines and generators. Biomass can also be trapped and decomposed to form a gas, that can be used in power plants. Ethanol, biodiesel, heat, make electricity, compost material, light, and fertilizer can also be created with biomass.
