Disadvantages of Biomass

As people know that biomass has many advantages, but there are still a lot of disadvantages that many people have not looked at. Biomass is defined as a renewable energy source that is biological material derived from living, or recently living organisms, such as wood, waste, and alcohol fuels according to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biomass

This is a problem because if the biomass is incorrectly burned then it could actually contribute a lot of global warming and pollution. It could also be difficult to

keep biomass as a renewable energy source because it takes time for plants to grow which might end up as the main source to produce biomass. Also it is still an expensive source.

It costs a lot to collect it, harvest it, and store it. Biomass can cause deforestation sine wood burning has been a major source of energy for hundreds of years. Another issue is that it takes up a lot of land and water to grow

crops and keep animals healthy to use their manure. Using biomass can also lead to increased prices at grocery stores.

People might think that it is a lot better than what we use today but actually biomass still produces greenhouse gases. Also a tank of bio-fuel will also not last as long a tank of gasoline.
